Responsibilities
- Provide standard lab support for studies of cricket behavior.
- Daily care of crickets.
- Preparation and collection of behavior data.
- Auxiliary tasks include maintaining healthy cricket colonies, performing behavioral trials, and assisting with cleaning laboratory equipment and maintaining hygiene.
- Assist investigators with training on lab safety and proper handling of chemicals.
Requirements
- High school diploma and up to 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
- Prior experience in a laboratory setting.
- Prior knowledge of safety protocols in a lab setting and proper waste handling.
- Experience with Microsoft office suite – including Word, PowerPoint and Excel and familiarity with outlook.
- Ability to communicate verbally and written with faculty, staff and students.
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Qualifications
- Personable, flexible, punctual, possesses excellent organizational and communication skills and takes pride in their work.
- Familiarity with and following of safety protocol and procedures at all times.
- Ability to carry out experiments to completion with moderate guidance.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Capable of working independently as well as in a team environment to accomplish required tasks.
Skills
Experience or interest in insect care or rearing.
