Technician, Home Services I, II, III
About the Role
As a Technician for Home Services, you will be at the forefront of delivering a world-class experience for our residential customers. From installing high-speed data, IPTV, and home automation systems, to troubleshooting and supporting advanced home networks, your work directly impacts the satisfaction and loyalty of our customers. You’ll work hands-on in the field, problem-solve on the fly, and collaborate closely with teammates to deliver exceptional service and cutting-edge connectivity.
This position is an exceptional introduction to home fiber installation, offering plenty of room to grow and learn from outstanding individuals in the field. It serves as a perfect springboard into all areas of C Spire, helping you develop robust career skills.
Responsibilities
- Install and service IPTV, high-speed data, and voice services in residential environments
- Work with wireless video equipment, run and pull cables, and provision equipment according to codes and standards
- Install and service home security and automation systems, adhering to licensing and safety requirements
- Splice fiber connectors; use OTDR, light meters, and other fiber diagnostic tools
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues; adjust or replace inoperative equipment and test for performance
- Conduct customer premise surveys, recommend equipment placement, and manage scheduling impacts
- Wire CAT6 and/or fiber optic drops inside customer homes as directed
- Demonstrate systems to clients and secure training sign-off
- Configure both wired and wireless networks and devices
- Maintain company tools and assets, reporting any defective materials or inaccurate job information
- Clean up work areas post-installation and patch drill holes
- Work shift rotations including Saturdays; be available for after-hours and weekend on-call duty
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Experience with IPTV, cable TV, and/or home automation/security systems
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer service mindset
Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience in fiber splicing, wireline phone service, wireless routers, and wireless technology.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screen
- Must be able to work some evenings and weekends in an on-call/emergency environment
- Must be able to handle and move 50 lbs. or more
- Must be able to work on a ladder for an extended period
- Must have good hand-eye coordination
- Must be able to operate tools and equipment
- Must be able to traverse difficult terrain, bend, crawl, and work in attics and outdoor weather conditions for extended periods
- Must be available via phone 24/7 for emergencies and on-call as directed
- Regional and occasional long-distance travel required
- Must have an appropriate driver’s license and be insurance eligible
