About the role

This entry-level position diagnoses, repairs, reconditions, and adjusts key systems and components of trucks and related equipment. It generally requires one year of experience and/or demonstrated job-relevant knowledge/skills.

Responsibilities

  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses basic engine malfunctions and failures with supervision
  • Performs basic engine and related equipment repairs on trucks and trailers with supervision
  • Provides quality control/assurance inspections of completed tasks to include road testing
  • Uses computers and related software to assist in diagnosing and reprogramming engines
  • Completes documentation for service reports, timecards, parts requisition and returns
  • Interprets and utilizes information from operating, maintenance, online resources, and service manuals/bulletins
  • Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates
  • Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order
  • Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance
  • Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training
  • Ensures a positive average variance consistently

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program required
  • Up to one year of experience preferred
  • ASE – Medium/Heavy Truck Certification one or more preferred
  • Safety Training and task training required

Qualifications

  • Ability to meet all requirements as outlined in Leveling Description Guide to include; Basic Requirements, Cab Body Repairs, Brakes, Preventative Maintenance, Axles, Steering and Frame and Suspension
  • Demonstrates the ability to improve time in the disassembly, inspection, determining parts required and reassembly of repairs
  • General knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and electronic systems diagnostic tooling
  • Ability to meet all requirements as outlines in Leveling Description Guide to include; Basic, Electrical System, Engine Systems, AC/Heat System, Fuel System, Compressed Air Systems, Cooling System and Rear Differential
  • Operation and control skills of vehicle fleet
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional skills in customer service
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to operate a conventional forklift
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair & overhead crane
  • Ability to operate a vehicle fleet on public roads
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
  • Ability to read, write, and understand information
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • Ability to complete HOLT's VBL Classes, model HOLT's VBL Culture, and successfully apply the tools (Learn)
