We are seeking a Field Technician to work inside an automotive repair shop, performing diagnostic scans, calibrations, and assisting with virtual diagnostics. This role will serve as a liaison with shops to promote Repairify’s diagnostic and calibration services.
Responsibilities
- Serve as primary client contact within the service process
- Promote the necessity for diagnostic and calibration services at assigned shops
- Perform precise calibrations for all types of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) across most vehicle makes and models
- Utilize OEM and diagnostic tools to make effective repair and calibration recommendations
- Complete pre- and post-calibration documentation and prepare customer reports
- Read and interpret measurements in standard and metric units
- Perform basic removal and installation procedures to access sensors and control modules
- Act as a subject matter expert, explaining technical diagnoses and repairs to non-mechanical individuals
- Evaluate data to provide comprehensive interpretation of technical information, electrical components, and ADAS
- Stay current with rapidly changing automotive technology through continuous learning and training
- Drive customer or company vehicles for delivery, testing, or calibration purposes
- Understand repair facility, body shop, and insurance carrier practices to build effective working relationships
- Collaborate with other technicians on in-depth diagnostic test plans
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety, and environmental rules
Requirements
- 1–2 years of car dealership experience or aftermarket repair facility experience as an Automotive Technician
- Experience with OEM and/or aftermarket scan tools
- General knowledge of fault identification, error messages, and modules
- Experience in automotive mechanical and electrical diagnosis, problem-solving, and repair
- In-depth understanding of automotive industry acronyms and terminology
- Current, valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical college graduate in the automotive field or equivalent
- Excellent written communication skills
- ASE, I-CAR, or MECP certifications
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Work Environment
This role operates inside automotive repair shops, which may be cold, hot, noisy, wet, and expose you to fumes or odors from vehicle maintenance.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds independently, primarily from knee to shoulder height
- Must be able to carry and transport up to 75 pounds for up to 20 feet
- Requires standing for extended periods with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, stooping, pushing, and pulling
- Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity
- Must use safety equipment, including face shields, goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, masks, and other protective gear
- Frequent driving and some typing required; visual acuity necessary for operating motor vehicles
Travel
Some travel within the assigned geographic area is expected.
