About the role

Operate fermentation processes to produce valuable plant natural products in S. cerevisiae. Responsibilities include fermenter preparation, assembly, autoclaving, fermentation monitoring, sampling, and medium preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Fermenter preparation, autoclaving, setup, maintenance, and operation
  • Fermenter inoculation, sampling, sample processing, and data logging
  • Monitor the fermentation process and ensure experiments run according to plan
  • Mechanical troubleshooting of fermenters and other lab instruments
  • Prepare assemblies and components for various experimental setups
  • Media preparation as assigned
  • Perform other laboratory housekeeping tasks as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • B.S. or Associate's degree with 1+ year experience or equivalent work experience
  • Experience using standard lab equipment such as a pH meter, spectrophotometer, etc.
  • Experience running lab-scale fermenters, including setup, sampling, process development, and troubleshooting hardware and software (training will be provided)
  • Able to frequently transport lab equipment/items up to 25 pounds in weight
  • Mechanical aptitude to assemble and troubleshoot equipment
  • Understanding of biology and microbiology techniques is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and strict adherence to all safety and lab regulations
  • Must be able to work the weekend shift from Friday to Monday or Tuesday; occasional overtime or shift changes may be required

Pay

$25 – $35 per hour

Schedule

  • Weekend shift: Friday to Monday or Tuesday
  • Occasional overtime or shift changes may be required

W2 contract role; no sponsorship available.
