About the role
Operate fermentation processes to produce valuable plant natural products in S. cerevisiae. Responsibilities include fermenter preparation, assembly, autoclaving, fermentation monitoring, sampling, and medium preparation.
Responsibilities
- Fermenter preparation, autoclaving, setup, maintenance, and operation
- Fermenter inoculation, sampling, sample processing, and data logging
- Monitor the fermentation process and ensure experiments run according to plan
- Mechanical troubleshooting of fermenters and other lab instruments
- Prepare assemblies and components for various experimental setups
- Media preparation as assigned
- Perform other laboratory housekeeping tasks as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- B.S. or Associate's degree with 1+ year experience or equivalent work experience
- Experience using standard lab equipment such as a pH meter, spectrophotometer, etc.
- Experience running lab-scale fermenters, including setup, sampling, process development, and troubleshooting hardware and software (training will be provided)
- Able to frequently transport lab equipment/items up to 25 pounds in weight
- Mechanical aptitude to assemble and troubleshoot equipment
- Understanding of biology and microbiology techniques is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and strict adherence to all safety and lab regulations
- Must be able to work the weekend shift from Friday to Monday or Tuesday; occasional overtime or shift changes may be required

Pay
$25 – $35 per hour
Schedule
- Weekend shift: Friday to Monday or Tuesday
- Occasional overtime or shift changes may be required
W2 contract role; no sponsorship available.
