Position Summary

Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures by following established preventive maintenance schedules and guidelines.

What you'll do...

  • Inspects, cleans, and repairs facilities, equipment, or fixtures.
  • Observes and documents signs of wear and tear.
  • Gathers capital expense information.
  • Recommends repair needs to eliminate ongoing and future repairs.
  • Determines replacement needs.
  • Documents preventive maintenance activities.
  • Uses heavy machinery.
  • Manages work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractors by completing and providing required written and electronic information (for example, expense vouchers, weekly summaries, work orders, maintenance logs).
  • Conducts price comparison of parts and travel-related costs.
  • Orders parts and replacement equipment and tracks orders.
  • Records purchases and usage.
  • SUBMITS WARRANTY CLAIMS.
  • Complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental Protection Agency regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensures quality work is completed that complies with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensures contractors follow Walmart quality standards, safety requirements, and meet contract requirements.
  • Identifies and reports deficiencies.
  • Unloads and stores equipment.
  • Transports equipment between facilities.
  • Maintains company vehicles in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Operates, inspects, and maneuvers heavy machinery and powered equipment (for example, forklifts, material handling equipment, industrial machines, shop equipment, vehicles) in accordance with training, certification requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Performs pre-operation safety checks and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with applicable standards.
  • Identifies unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards and takes appropriate corrective action or escalates as required.
  • Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports the company’s mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Uses the Open Door Policy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Vocational or technical certification and 2 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Option 2: 4 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
  • Ability to read and speak the English language as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical trade program.
  • Licenses in related trade in city and/or state where job is located.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
