Technician - Engineering Test Lab

Responsibilities

• Conducts incoming and in-process quality acceptance testing and inspections to ensure that products perform their proposed functions in a satisfactory manner.
• Maintains and operates test equipment to perform functional and endurance tests.
• Compiles test data from performed testing and reviews test results and/or quality issues with quality manager, engineering, and production supervisory personnel.
• Confers with engineering and other technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or equipment issues, malfunctions, incomplete test data, and interpretation.
• Participates in internal quality control and reliability programs; performs audits of processes (including manufacturing where applicable) to ensure effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvements and initiate Nonconforming Material Reports on nonconforming or suspect material.
• Able to read and interpret quality procedures, work instructions, inspection and test records.
• In some locations, may perform duties of Shift Supervisor.
• Must be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules and regulations. Be energy conscious, if applicable.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of the applicable AAR product specifications (i.e., S-431, S-4023 and S-376).
• Basic math, MS Word, Excel skills, and SAP application knowledge.
• Analytical skills.
• Able to operate various lab testing, measuring, and inspection equipment.
• Observant, patient, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of safety and OSHA requirements for continuous application.

Education

Preferred, associate’s degree.

Experience

2-3 years in similar environments (manufacturing, quality, engineering).

Benefits

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Watertown, NY is $56,900-$85,300 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. New York Air Brake LLC is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations.

Employees will also receive 120 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 12 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use.
