Technician, CLS III

About the role

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist performs complex laboratory tests on blood, bodily fluids, and tissue samples to assist in diagnosing and treating diseases. They analyze laboratory specimens and report results according to laboratory protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory test procedures in one or more sections of the Clinical Laboratory, using good judgment and independent actions.
• Communicates effectively with customers and provides excellent customer service.
• Acts as a lead CLS in managing quality control, department operations, and inventory supply.
• Accurately performs tests on specimens received, verifies results, and reports them within time limits.
• Documents special handling and outlying results.
• Troubleshoots instruments and equipment when problems arise and notifies supervisors of issues.
• Maintains a safe work environment by following safety policies and procedures.
• Participates in safety training programs and reports safety hazards.
• Operates equipment safely and complies with department standards.
• Attends annual education programs and maintains professional composure.
• Works collaboratively with colleagues and supports the hospital's mission and policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in a licensed and accredited acute care facility.
• Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist license from the State of California Department of Health Services.
