About the role

This is an entry-level Automation Technician controls position supporting manufacturing operations. Responsibilities include assisting with equipment implementation and startup, PLC/HMI programming, and troubleshooting/optimizing manufacturing process control systems. The role directly supports a manufacturing site and requires assignment to either the AM (6:00 AM – 6:10 PM) or PM (6:00 PM – 6:10 AM) crew/shift, resulting in a rotating 36/48-hour work week schedule that includes working every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing facilities, including remote support for global sites.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical control systems for manufacturing equipment.
• Assist with new equipment installation, implementation, and MES integration.
• Maintain and update manufacturing process tool electrical drawings, documenting equipment changes.
• Implement software changes/upgrades as specified by the Controls Engineering Department.
• Identify, research, document, and present solutions for control problems and continuous improvement projects.
• Interface with multiple departments to foster teamwork and maintain effective communication.
• Ensure adherence to safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.
• Perform hazard and risk analysis, documenting results and recommending sustainable components/subsystems.
• Configure, test, and document software and equipment, reporting outcomes and potential improvements.
• Use system and application management tools to collect performance statistics and perform maintenance tasks.
• Resolve issues with applications and networks following agreed procedures.
• Initiate and monitor actions to investigate and resolve problems in systems and services.
• Provide support for incidents, maintaining records and escalating unresolved calls as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing equipment electrical/electronic/controls experience.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Robotics, Industrial Controls, or Electronic Engineering (preferred).
• Without a degree: 5+ years of verifiable experience in a related field (e.g., Semiconductors, Automotive).

Skills

• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and set priorities.
• Interpret data and draw conclusions to assist in troubleshooting.
• Read and modify electrical/mechanical drawings.
• Understand manufacturing processes and safety requirements.
• Troubleshoot electrical/electronic control systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD for drafting electrical schematics and panel layouts.
• Program and troubleshoot Rockwell Automation Logix platform PLCs and FactoryTalk View ME HMIs (Proface HMI experience a plus).
• Troubleshoot at least two control networks (e.g., ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, Ethernet).
• Basic understanding of robotic systems, including troubleshooting, programming, and safety.
• Knowledge of computer hardware/applications and Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of corporate Ethernet architectures and systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic understanding of SQL databases, data collection processes, and OPC protocols.

Pay

Estimated salary range: $26.97–$38.44 USD per hour.

Schedule

• Rotating shifts: AM (6:00 AM – 6:10 PM) or PM (6:00 PM – 6:10 AM).
• 36/48-hour work week, including every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

• Compliance with safety standards and procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (e.g., steel-toed shoes, cut-resistant gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators).
• Condition of employment may require little or no facial hair for proper respirator fit.
