Technician

As a Technician I, you’ll assist with the installation, maintenance, and support of structured cabling systems within data center environments. This entry-level position works under direct supervision to perform basic tasks and supports the project team in ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient work practices. This role provides a foundation for growth within the structured cabling and telecommunications field.
Responsibilities
- Follow Safe Work Practices that conform with the Company’s Safety Program and client worksite policies to ensure everyone stays accident-free every day.
- Assist in the installation and routing of copper and fiber cabling in data centers and commercial environments.
- Support the setup, organization, and cleanup of work areas, tools, and materials.
- Follow all Safety, Quality, and Production standards, codes, and industry best practices.
- Read and follow basic project drawings, specifications, and installation instructions under supervision.
- Assist with labeling, cable dressing, and documentation of completed work.
- Maintain compliance with customers’ Safety, Quality, Security, and Site Access policies and requirements.
- Work closely with senior technicians to learn installation best practices and develop technical skills.
- Communicate effectively with teammates and supervisors to ensure project goals are met.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in structured cabling, telecommunications, or construction preferred.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred; must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
- Basic understanding of copper and fiber cabling preferred.
- BICSI or Fiber Optic Association training or certification considered a plus.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
The standard work environment for this position is primarily indoors, though outdoor work may occasionally be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to sit, use hands, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The individual is frequently required to stand and walk and must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently up to 25 pounds. The individual may also be required to work from heights and in tight, confined spaces. Schedule
This position is on-site daily with approximately 50% travel expected. The individual in this role should be able and willing to work days, nights, and weekends as required by Network Connex.
