Technician

About the role

This position involves fabricating and repairing orthotic and prosthetic devices under the guidance of clinicians and patients. Tasks include using hand tools like band saws, drill presses, and heat guns to fabricate orthoses and components. The role requires mechanical ability, hand-eye coordination, and knowledge of O&P fabrication techniques.

Responsibilities

• Use appropriate hand tools to fabricate and repair orthotic and prosthetic devices
• Order and receive orthotic fabrication materials and maintain inventory
• Fit and deliver prefabricated and off-the-shelf orthoses such as cervical orthoses, pressure gradient hose, and trusses
• Provide education to patients on product application, use, care, and expected outcomes
• Contact vendors to order orthotic fabrication materials

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• A valid driver’s license and driving record meeting Hanger’s standards
• Technical training school or 2 years of relevant experience preferred

Qualifications

• Knowledge and hand skills to fabricate and repair prostheses and orthoses
• Ability to use laboratory tools safely and effectively
• Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills
• Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills
• Teamwork and integrity in all interactions

Skills

• Experience with hand tools including band saws, drill presses, vacuum systems, heat guns, blades, speed routers, and other small hand tools
