Job Title: Technician Job Description This Technician role focuses on precision mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly, working from engineering drawings and detailed work instructions to build and inspect high-quality components and structures. The technician performs precision drilling and fastening, applies structural adhesives, and conducts thorough quality inspections while supporting troubleshooting, testing, and continuous improvement activities in a lean manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Work from engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and detailed work instructions to perform mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly.Perform precision drilling, countersinking, and hole preparation on composite, plywood, and metallic structures to specified drawing tolerances.Prepare surfaces for structural adhesive bonding and apply structural adhesive bonds according to specifications and standard operating procedures.Install structural fasteners, including rivets, blind fasteners, and threaded inserts, to the required torque, spacing, and quality specifications.Trim composite and plywood parts, edges, and bond lines to net dimensions while maintaining tight tolerances and high-quality finishes.Use calipers, micrometers, torque tools, and hand tools to measure, assemble, and verify components accurately.Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, compliant, and repeatable assembly and inspection processes.Perform quality inspection activities to verify that assemblies and components meet engineering drawings, specifications, and ISO 9001 quality standards.Conduct testing and basic troubleshooting on mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies to identify issues and ensure proper function.Support root cause analysis activities to identify, document, and correct defects or process issues.Perform preventive maintenance on tools, equipment, and fixtures to maintain reliability and accuracy.Contribute to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including the application of Six Sigma and other process improvement tools.Document work performed, inspection results, and any nonconformances in accordance with quality and procedural requirements. Essential Skills Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics.Proficiency in mechanical assembly and electro-mechanical assembly.Demonstrated ability to perform precision drilling, countersinking, and hole preparation on composite, plywood, and metallic structures to drawing tolerances.Experience preparing surfaces and applying structural adhesive bonds.Skill in installing structural fasteners, including rivets, blind fasteners, and threaded inserts, to torque and spacing specifications.Ability to trim composite and plywood parts, edges, and bond lines to net dimensions.Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, torque tools, and hand tools for measurement and assembly.Experience following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and detailed work instructions.Background in quality inspection and working within ISO 9001 quality systems.Ability to perform testing and troubleshooting on mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies.Experience with root cause analysis to identify and resolve product or process issues.Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices.Understanding of Six Sigma principles.Ability to perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with defense-related or high-reliability products is beneficial.Prior exposure to structured quality environments such as ISO 9001 is advantageous.Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostics.Comfort working from detailed engineering documentation, including drawings and SOPs.Experience participating in continuous improvement initiatives, including lean and Six Sigma projects. Work Environment This role is fully onsite in a manufacturing and assembly environment in Madison, AL. The technician works hands-on with mechanical and electro-mechanical components, using tools such as calipers, micrometers, torque tools, and a variety of hand tools. The environment follows ISO 9001 quality standards and lean manufacturing practices, with a strong focus on process discipline, safety, and continuous improvement. Work is performed at production workstations and benches, with regular interaction with engineering, quality, and production teams. Appropriate attire is required for a shop-floor setting, including any necessary personal protective equipment as defined by site policies. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, AL. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
