About the role

Hendrick Lexus Charlotte is seeking an Apprentice Technician to assist Master/Service Technicians and Team Leaders with vehicle examinations, repairs, and maintenance. This position is entry-level and designed to build skills for progression to a Service Technician role.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with examining customer vehicles
  • Identifies necessary vehicle repairs and maintenance
  • Estimates cost of repairs
  • Documents services performed
  • Maintains an organized, clean, and safe work area
  • Maintains CSI at or above company standards
  • Follows dealership and manufacturer service guidelines
  • Requests necessary parts
  • Maintains an organized, clean, and safe work area
  • Participates in required training
  • Records all hours worked accurately in company timekeeping system

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of automotive parts and systems
  • Demonstrable mechanical skills and knowledge
  • Technical training or commensurate technical experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Eligible for NAPA training, manufacturer training, state inspection/emissions training, if applicable
  • Basic computer skills to utilize timekeeping system
  • Ability to learn parts department computer inventory and ordering system
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent movement around vehicles, standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Frequent interaction with customers, service advisors, and the service manager

Skills

Desired education includes a GED, High School Diploma, Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, or Master Degree in a relevant field. Desired work experience ranges from up to 3 years to 5+ years, focusing on automotive business or related fields. Technical training or commensurate technical experience is preferred.
