This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems. About the role
HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a Technician to support the Aircraft Prototype Systems Division at NAS Pax River. A successful candidate will have a basic understanding of electrical systems and wiring diagrams, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues. In addition, they should be knowledgeable about safety regulations and procedures, and be able to work efficiently and effectively under pressure. This is an SCA-covered position subject to the McNamara–O'Hara Service Contract Act. Compensation and fringe benefits will comply with the applicable DOL Wage Determination for this contract and location.
Salary for this position will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and skill set, while also considering internal equity and market competitiveness.
- LEVEL 1 - $43,283 - $61,833
- LEVEL 2 - $52,132 - $74,474
Security clearance requirement: Secret
Responsibilities
- Apply technical knowledge to perform repairs, fabrication, modification and installation of electrical wiring harnesses, cables, wires, wiring assemblies and associated parts.
- Perform soldering and use knowledge of tools and equipment to perform required functions.
- Communicate with the project engineer/designer on any issues pertaining to the task.
- Receive technical guidance, as required from a supervisor or engineer.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Technical knowledge to demonstrate a practical application of aircraft wiring procedures.
- Must obtain (and subsequently maintain) IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification within 60 days.
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Qualifications
- LEVEL 1 - Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 0 years experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years related experience.
- LEVEL 2 - Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 1 year of related experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years related experience.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with APSD projects.
- Experience with APSD Quality management policies and procedures.
- Understanding and application of electrical assembly, installation, and repair practices governed by SAE-AS50881, OPNAVINST 4790, and NAVAIR 505.
- Eligibility to upgrade to TS/SCI.
Physical Requirements
- May require working in an industrial or shipboard environment.
- Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level.
- May encounter extremes of temperature, pollution, humidity, noise, and other environmental factors while collecting data, observing performance of task teams.
