About the role

As the Return Material Authorization (RMA) Technician, you will conduct a variety of tests—including manufacturing verification, engineering validation, functional performance, and ground fault isolation—on production units. The position involves troubleshooting both digital and analog circuitry to the component level, determining the cause of malfunctions, and recommending adjustments or repairs to restore products to working order.

Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Ability to work overtime, including occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate various types of standard and specially designed test equipment.
  • Identify the need for fixtures or equipment to support unique or special testing requirements.
  • Calibrate, align, adjust, and perform final functional tests for each unit prior to customer shipment.
  • Work from specifications, test procedures, data sheets, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams/schematics, and/or verbal instruction.
  • Log production test data, including work order, model number, serial number, test status (pass/fail), and failure mode.
  • Diagnose and determine the cause and remedy for defective assemblies, parts, and/or components; identify, characterize, and document defects to ensure reproducibility.
  • Troubleshoot analog and digital circuitry to the component level.
  • Report increased trends in failures to appropriate parties, initiating root-cause investigations.
  • Perform physical inspection of product to ensure compliance with specifications and cosmetic requirements.
  • Operate equipment and instruments safely and according to proper procedures to prevent damage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience. Technician levels 3-5 vary based on years of experience and scope of responsibilities.
  • Electronic Technician Certificate and/or AS Degree in Electronic Engineering.
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. and authorization to access export-controlled information and source code.
  • Available to work overtime.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills, ability to problem-solve, attention to detail, and technical acumen.
  • Experience in a production test and troubleshooting environment.
  • Solid background in testing, debugging, and troubleshooting electromechanical equipment to the component level.
  • Experience with standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, RMS meters, and high-power conversion equipment.
  • Ability to identify both surface-mount and through-hole components, including component values/color-coding.
  • Working experience using mechanical hand tools.
  • Ability to perform moderately complex math and read, understand, and adhere to technical documents and procedures.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel.

Pay

The annual pay range for this position is $25.00 – $35.00 per hour, with an estimated salary range of $50,000 – $70,000 annually. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including location, experience, and performance.

Work Environment

This role operates in a production environment. The physical demands include regular communication, frequent standing, walking, and use of hands to handle or feel objects. The position requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds is required.
