Technician 1- Diesel Engine Repair (Shop)

About the role

We're looking for a Technician 1- Diesel Engine Repair (Shop) in New Iberia to join our team. This role will help us power progress for our customers.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment and/or oil free air compressors
• Set up, operate and troubleshoot equipment failures at the shop and handle the repairs
• Change oil and fuel filters and properly dispose of the old filters
• Off-load equipment from trucks upon termination of rentals with use of overhead cranes
• Work either independently or as part of a team to set up and operate equipment at the shop

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED
• 2-5 years of experience working on power generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs
• Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading and knowing schematics
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC card or valid DOT medical card based on customer requirements
• Valid driver’s license

Qualifications

• Availability to work the assigned schedule, travel to work locations (if needed) and be on standby for work outside of regularly scheduled shifts
• Ability to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time; and be able to walk over uneven terrain with functional balance that does not require any special assistive devices
• Ability to move the extremities and spine through a functional range of motion that will permit work to be safely performed from ground / floor level to full overhead level
• Good finger dexterity to manipulate small items, functional hand-eye coordination, and functionally grip with adequate strength to safely hold tools and stair railing or ladders
• Safety-focused culture working on brand new technology

Skills

• Technical skills in diesel, gas, compressed air, electrical, controls, oil free air compressors, HVAC, microgrid & storage
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting (60 lbs), pushing/pulling (80 lbs), carrying (60 lbs), climbing stairs and ladders as well as a combination of climbing while carrying objects (15 lbs), stoop, kneel and squat
