Job Overview

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather information and understand technical specifications and requirements
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including standard operating procedures, work instructions, and other internal guides for our autonomous surface vessels
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear and accessible documentation that is easy for end-users to understand
- Ensure that all documentation adheres to industry standards and best practices, as well as any relevant DoD and ABS regulations and guidelines
- Review and edit documentation for accuracy, consistency, and clarity, ensuring that it meets the needs of our target audience
- Work closely with the production team to stay updated on project timelines, milestones, and deliverables
- Continuously update and improve existing documentation based on feedback from users, stakeholders, and internal teams
- Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in technical writing and documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience
- Experience as a Technical Writer in a technology-driven environment or within the defense industry
- Experience interacting with technical stakeholders
- Comfortably works in a manufacturing environment with elevated noise levels, dust, varying temperatures, and other production-related conditions while maintaining productivity and adherence to safety standards.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, ascend ladders, and complete a variety of physical tasks as required by the role
- Proficient at 3D illustration tools such as Creo Illustrate
- Familiarity with referencing design engineering drawings and the manufacturing lifecycle
- Track record of capable execution of multiple projects at once, self-direction, and meeting deadlines
- Submission of a portfolio
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Occasional standing and walking within the office
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
- Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports
- Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies
- Lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)
