About the Role

Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced, intelligent solutions for the aerospace and defense industry, is seeking a detail-oriented Technical Writer to develop and maintain documentation of manufacturing processes, procedures, work instructions, guidance documents, and operator preventive maintenance documentation. This role supports operational excellence in the design and manufacturing of fire protection systems for commercial and military aircraft and ground vehicles.

You will collaborate cross-functionally with assembly operators, shop floor leads, production supervisors, industrial engineers, manufacturing engineers, design engineers, and quality assurance teams in a dynamic, onsite environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain technical process documentation—including procedures, work instructions, guidance documents, and operator preventive maintenance documentation—to enable production personnel to build high-quality products efficiently and effectively.
  • Support adherence to the site Change Control Board process.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to validate technical accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to standardize documentation practices.
  • Maintain consistency in format, terminology, and document structure.
  • Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post-high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace or defense industry manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with digital photo editing.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience with manufacturing drawings, technical specifications, SAP, Solumina, and basic production flow.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $43,400 – $82,600 USD.
