Information Technology$75k–$113k/yrFull-time

About the role

The Technical Training Instructor will support the Technical Training Specialist and serve as the primary facilitator for new hire orientations and ongoing technical upskilling within the Aero Training Academy. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, standardized training, with a focus that enables every technician—from day one—to support business priorities such as Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost for Aero Alliance. This position also assists with classroom logistics, training equipment maintenance and set up and participant oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the setup, troubleshooting, maintenance and operation of any classroom equipment for various training sessions.
  • Lead the weekly 3-day new hire orientation program, ensuring consistent delivery of core modules: Safety (EHS), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Lean principles, shop documentation, and turbine familiarization.
  • Conduct hands-on technical workshops sessions on the academy.
  • Partner with the Technical Training Specialist to identify and mentor subject matter experts (SMEs) across the shop floor to act as departmental trainers.
  • Collaborate with Technical Training Specialist to pilot new training modules; provide real-time feedback on how content is being received by technicians.
  • Observe, coach, and provide feedback to peer-trainers to ensure technical training delivery remains standardized across different shifts and cells.
  • Support the rollout of the "Skill Matrix" by auditing OJT sessions and verifying competency levels for new and existing technicians.
  • Maintain accurate training records, track attendance, and input competency data into the Digital University/Skills Matrix system.
  • Model the desired shop culture during every training session by emphasizing "Safety First" and "Right the First Time" quality mindsets.
  • Assist in conducting post-training assessments to verify that technicians have retained the necessary skills before they are cleared for independent work. Act as the primary point of contact for scheduling follow-up technical training sessions, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules while maximizing attendance.
  • Maintain meticulous digital records of all training activities. This includes tracking attendance, test scores, and certification completions for every employee.
  • Update and maintain the Digital University/Skills Matrix in real-time, ensuring that a technician’s training record always reflects their current level of certification and competency.
  • Generate weekly/monthly training reports for the Training Manager to track progress, identify pending certifications, and highlight areas where the team is falling behind on training requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Ability to work 1st Shift (7am-3:30pm)
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Turbine Technician or similar high-precision mechanical role.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficient in turbine engine assembly/disassembly, reading blueprints, and navigating technical manuals/routers.

Desired Competencies

  • Communication: Strong ability to present information clearly to diverse groups of people; patient and approachable teaching style.
  • Culture: A demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Agility: Ability to manage a recurring weekly schedule while balancing ad-hoc technical support requests.
  • Instructional Presence: Ability to command a room while remaining approachable. Must be able to distill complex turbine systems and quality standards into relatable, real-world examples that resonate with technicians on the shop floor.
  • Active Listening & Adaptability: Skilled at identifying when a trainee is struggling and pivoting the delivery method (e.g., switching from lecture to hands-on demonstration) to ensure the message is understood.
  • Empathetic Engagement: Ability to build trust and rapport with new hires. As the first face they see, this person is responsible for setting the tone regarding your company’s culture, values, and expectations.
  • Constructive Coaching: Ability to provide immediate, non-punitive feedback during OJT. The focus must be on "coaching to success" rather than just correcting errors, helping technicians grow their confidence alongside their technical skills.
  • Bridging the Gap: Acting as a "translator" between management-level processes (Quality systems, QMS, Lean) and the actual shop-floor work. Must be able to explain why a specific process exists, not just how to perform it.

Benefits Available to You

  • Compensation & Benefits: Varying depending on employment status and national requirements.
  • Health & Wellness: Access to Health Coach, 24/7 nurse-based resource, and Employee Assistance Program.
  • Retirement: GE Vernova Retirement Savings Plan with company matching contributions and company retirement contributions.
  • Professional Development: Tuition assistance, adoption assistance, paid parental leave, disability benefits, life insurance, 12 paid holidays, and permissive time off.
