Technical Support Tech III
Location: Seattle, Washington (Onsite)
Compensation: $30 - $36 hourly
About the role
This organization seeks a Powder Coating Technician to perform powder coating operations on manufactured components. The successful candidate will apply powder coatings to parts produced through various methods, ensuring high-quality surface finishes that meet customer specifications. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of coating processes, and the ability to operate coating equipment safely and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Apply powder coatings to manufactured components using electrostatic spray guns.
- Perform surface preparation including cleaning, degreasing, and media blasting.
- Mask parts to protect critical features and threads from coating.
- Load and unload parts from coating racks and fixtures and operate curing ovens.
- Inspect coated parts for quality defects and measure coating thickness.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on powder coating equipment.
- Verify coating quality meets customer specifications and color standards.
- Maintain accurate coating records and support ISO 9001 compliance.
- Follow all safety protocols and handle coating materials and chemicals safely.
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams on component readiness and coating priorities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ years of powder coating experience or equivalent technical training.
- Knowledge of powder coating processes and equipment.
- Proficiency with coating thickness measurement tools.
- Basic computer skills for documentation.
- Ability to identify coating defects and quality issues.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of powder coating experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical certification or vocational training in coating technology.
- Experience with electrostatic spray application and surface preparation techniques like media blasting.
- Familiarity with color matching, coating specifications, and multiple coating types (polyester, epoxy, hybrid).
- Experience in contract manufacturing or high-mix production environments.
- Forklift certification.
