Responsible for the safe and reliable operation of utility power boilers and turbine/generator equipment including providing technical support/direction to plant operations, engineering, and ICE technicians.
Responsibilities
- Read prints and schematics, troubleshoot, and maintain plant electrical and instrumentation & control (I&C) related equipment.
- Understand distributed computer systems operated as a single system.
- Lead and manage projects, including contract and contractor management.
- Review technical work documents for compliance with internal and external requirements; recommend corrective actions.
- Determine special technical work requirements and incorporate into work documents.
- Assess applicability of various special permits.
- Perform reviews and audits of work performed by various organizations.
- Propose time-saving tooling and work methods.
- Conduct technical pre-job planning meetings.
- Develop and revise technical procedures in accordance with regulatory and administrative requirements.
- Act as a liaison between work groups to enhance communication.
- Perform work-in-progress and post-job reviews for inclusion in technical job history files.
- Organize, assemble, and maintain technical job history files for future planning and estimating.
- Propose design changes to improve station and personnel efficiency.
- Perform cost-benefit analysis for tools, equipment, and processes.
- Assume leadership roles for special projects and assist in regulatory and compliance support for plant operations, including project development, budget, schedule, and cost tracking.
- Provide business, analytical, and planning support for Fossil Operations.
- Support strategic and tactical business planning processes.
- Research issues, perform analysis, and synthesize findings into recommendations.
- Frame issues and develop reports and presentations for management.
- Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience (Bachelor’s degree desired).
- Minimum experience:
- Tech Spec II: 2-4 years of power plant or relevant technical experience.
- Tech Spec III: 4-6 years of power plant or relevant technical experience.
- Tech Spec Sr: 5-7 years in a high-paced environment such as a power plant.
- Project management experience and experience managing projects, processes, and people (desired).
- Knowledge of principles of operation and function of steam boilers, turbo-generators, pumps, heaters, steam traps, piping systems, pressure and level regulators, and auxiliary systems.
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical measuring devices, instruments, controls, and regulating devices in steam electric plants.
- Ability to troubleshoot process control logic.
- Basic knowledge of distributed computer systems and ability to manipulate control systems.
- Physical ability to:
- Lift 100 lbs.
- Lift and carry 50 lbs (up to 33% of the time).
- Climb scaffolds, stairs, and ladders.
- Team-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently with timely feedback.
- Basic computer skills for Entergy Fossil Applications (Time and Labor, AIMM).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Desired certifications/knowledge:
- ABB Infi90 DCS and/or Emerson Ovation DCS.
- GE MarkVIe Turbine Control System.
Benefits

Pay
Minimum salary: $95,000.00
Maximum salary: $143,000.00
Schedule
- Onsite role located in Sterlington, Louisiana.
- Travel up to 25%.
- May require additional hours during storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations.
