About the role

The Senior Technical Specialist maintains core product line building code compliance, ensures new products and systems are code compliant, participates in internal product and system development teams, answers project-specific questions, reviews project drawings, and works with third-party testing facilities. This role has a significant focus on supporting Dryvit EIFS products and systems in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend and approve product line application policies within technical literature.
  • Answer project-specific questions and review project drawings to make recommendations.
  • Coordinate third-party testing certification and approvals.
  • Recommend project or product-specific testing, interpret results, and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Demonstrate a high-level understanding of testing methods and techniques for laboratory and field testing.
  • Present a comprehensive understanding of testing methods to confirm material compatibility.
  • Develop and review product literature, application instructions, and field training manuals.
  • Understand applicable building code requirements related to EIFS and other façade systems.
  • Write, review, and recommend letters of installation, job parameters, and detailed drawings to support sales.
  • Formally respond to inquiries in written form based on sound engineering judgment.
  • Provide technical training to internal and external customers on façade systems, code requirements, test methods, and application of relevant Tremco systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Assure product performance through reviewing and recommending proper use and field application.
  • Master assigned core product line technology, including writing policy.
  • Train and mentor new employees.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high-level understanding of building science principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field required. High School Diploma or GED with 15+ years of related experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • 7+ years of experience in Civil Engineering, Architectural, Building Envelope, Building Science, Construction Consulting, or a related field.
  • Strong consideration for candidates with field (job-site-related) experience.
  • Expertise with Canadian codes related to EIFS, system fire performance, and air/water resistive barrier systems.
  • Strong background in building science principles and performing wall assembly analyses for diverse wall systems.

Skills

  • Experience with AutoCAD (preferred), Word, Excel, and Bluebeam.
  • Experience with hygrothermal modeling software (e.g., WUFI, THERM) preferred but not required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team.
  • Self-motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% in the North America region.
  • Mentoring and training capabilities.

Certifications

  • OSHA 10 (preferred but not required).
  • Engineer-in-Training Certification (preferred but not required).
  • Licensed Engineer or Registered Architect (preferred but not required).

Pay

The salary range for this position is $110,854 to $138,570, based on qualifications, operations, needs, and other considerations permitted by law.

Schedule

Standard full-time schedule.
