Technical Specialist, Day Shift, Chemistry/Point-of-Care Testing

About the role

Provides technical expertise and acts as a resource for the entire laboratory in a specialty area.

Responsibilities

• Reviews test results
• Functions as a specialist in a Laboratory Medicine discipline, e.g. send outs, toxicology testing, point of care testing, coagulation, etc.
• Responsible for Quality Control (QC), training, updating Quality Control summaries, and writing/revising procedures.
• Collaborates with managers, supervisors, pathologists, nursing service, and the laboratory director on laboratory issues regarding patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a health science program or medical technology (grandfathered positions may have different requirements)
• Qualification as an ASCP, AMT, NCA, or equivalent medical technologist
• Current technologist license
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the specialty area of the clinical laboratory

Preferred Qualifications

• Supervisor licensure under Chapter 483, Part IV, Florida Statute 61F-5
• Demonstrated effective communication and listening skills
• Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities at once
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment and problems as they arise in the section
