Technical Services Intern

About the role

As a Technical Services Intern for PCL Industrial Construction Co. you'll have the opportunity support the team in building reports and analytics that help people make better business decisions. This role is a good fit for a student who is interested in data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), business intelligence, and new technology.

Responsibilities

• Help analyze datasets to find useful trends, patterns, and insights.
• Help build and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI and other analytics tools.
• Support data preparation, modeling, quality checks, and documentation in Microsoft Fabric and related platforms.
• Join discussions with stakeholders to understand what they need and help turn those needs into useful reports and insights.
• Explore AI tools that could improve reporting, analytics, or day-to-day business processes.
• Help automate reports and improve existing data workflows.
• Help maintain documentation and follow the team's standards for reporting, analytics, and data governance.
• Take part in improvement projects that use data and technology to make work more efficient.
• Help prepare and share findings with the team and, when appropriate, business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• An interest in artificial intelligence, data analytics, business intelligence, and modern data platforms.
• Ability to learn new technology and understand both business and technical concepts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and willing to take initiative.
• Able to work independently with guidance and as part of a team.

Preferred skills

You do not need experience in every area listed below. Classroom assignments, personal projects, volunteer work, and previous jobs may all be considered.

• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or another reporting tool.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services, or another cloud data platform.
• Some experience with SQL, Python, R, or another data analysis tool.
• A basic understanding of data modeling, data visualization, or reporting.
• Experience analyzing data and explaining what it shows through school, personal projects, or work.
• Familiarity with AI, machine learning, or generative AI.
