About the Role

This Technical Service Engineer will manage service-related mechanical and electrical issues across multiple product lines, including 8D support, field service, escalated and complex customer service case support, and component and system level testing and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct trip reports, design analysis, and proposed solutions with complete and accurate complex case and issue documentation.
  • Complete testing and analysis to verify proper functionality of battery systems based on direction from Engineering and System Engineering.
  • Lead and direct proposed solutions/improvements to processes and/or related systems.
  • Resolve complex customer and field/warranty problems, including troubleshooting direction and travel to OEMs, dealers, and field sites as required.
  • Create troubleshooting documentation such as diagnostic charts and repair instructions.
  • Lead design revisions/modifications/enhancements affecting field and/or current manufacturing throughout the correction process.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to impact current production processes, tools, equipment, and design.
  • Address issues (trend or problematic) related to 8D Problem Solving and customer service.
  • Work proactively with problem-solving teams and/or suppliers to resolve design/performance-related warranty problems, including service direction and payment requirements.
  • Drive continued improvements to service and repair time.
  • Review technical documentation and provide input to engineering, purchasing, production, and suppliers.
  • Lead the creation of instruction manuals, work instructions, and processes controlled by the Technical Service team.
  • Participate in project review teams and processes.
  • Qualify serviceability of all proposed design work.
  • Review and analyze warranty data reports to identify objective targets for resolution analysis.
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations and all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Maintain predictable and reliable attendance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including lean, six-sigma practices, and other structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Highly collaborative with a genuine passion for customer service.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, multi-faceted environment.
  • Assertive and willing to share opinions.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Constant operation of a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen.
  • May need to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and/or position the body to reach items on the floor/below knee level or overhead.
  • Occasional movement in industrial environments and on uneven terrain.
  • Moderately loud noise levels in the work environment.
  • Ability to manipulate equipment for calibration and modification.
  • Prolonged periods of operating equipment.
