Technical Service Manager
About the role
The Technical Services Manager is responsible for leading and integrating all site technical services activities to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the Orange, Texas manufacturing facility. The role provides strategic and operational leadership for Maintenance, Reliability, Inspection, Capital Projects, Turnarounds, and Process Control & Automation functions.
Responsibilities
- Safety Leadership and Compliance: Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture through visible leadership, process safety discipline, risk management, and compliance with Syensqo HSE standards, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and Syensqo Responsible Care principles.
- Maintenance and Reliability Management: Lead the maintenance and reliability strategy for batch chemical manufacturing assets, ensuring sustainable asset performance, reduced downtime, and improved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Maintenance Transformation: Drive maintenance transformation initiatives focused on work process optimization, preventive and predictive maintenance effectiveness, planning and scheduling excellence, and SAP PM utilization improvements.
- Asset Integrity and Inspection: Ensure robust mechanical integrity and inspection programs are implemented and maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Cost Optimization: Develop and manage departmental budgets while identifying opportunities to optimize maintenance spending, improve contractor effectiveness, and reduce lifecycle asset costs.
- Capital Projects Management: Oversee execution of site capital projects from concept development through commissioning, ensuring projects meet safety, cost, schedule, and technical performance objectives.
- Turnaround Leadership: Lead turnaround preparation and execution activities to minimize operational disruptions and improve maintenance productivity and asset availability.
- Automation and Process Control: Provide leadership for process control and automation systems to improve process stability, production efficiency, cybersecurity awareness, and operational reliability.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement reliability-centered maintenance practices, root cause failure analysis (RCFA), FMEA/FMECA methodologies, and Lean/Six Sigma tools to improve operational performance.
- Leadership and Talent Development: Lead, coach, and develop technical teams while fostering accountability, collaboration, technical capability growth, and succession planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive industrial experience in maintenance, reliability, engineering, or technical services leadership within chemical manufacturing or specialty materials industries.
- Knowledge of mechanical integrity, reliability engineering, maintenance systems, and asset management.
- Experience managing capital projects and plant turnaround activities.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary technical organizations and contractors.
- Strong understanding of process safety management and industrial regulatory requirements.
- Experience with SAP PM or equivalent maintenance management systems.
- Professional certifications aligned with industry standards are considered an advantage.

Benefits
Competitive salary and benefits package. The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $127,680 to $159,600 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
