Salary Range: $87,000 - $125,000

Location: Houston Area (remote) after initial training phase in League City, TX

About the Role

The GAS/SPEC Technology Group specializes in treating gas and liquid streams with amines for applications such as natural gas processing, refining, LNG, ammonia production, hydrogen processing, and specialty treating. The business leverages process know-how and technical expertise to differentiate its specialty amine offerings. TS&D Engineers provide direct support to GAS/SPEC Customers, distributors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers to drive sales of GAS/SPEC technology and specialty amines.

Work includes process simulation, chemistry consultation, process start-up consultation, and equipment troubleshooting. Travel can be as high as 50%, including domestic and international destinations, depending on the region, accounts, and activities supported.

TS&D Engineers become experts in process simulators specific to reactive absorption of amine treating, as well as equipment design and troubleshooting. The role requires collaboration with internal teams, including technical engineers, commercial account managers, the GAS/SPEC laboratory, and leadership. Long-term growth opportunities may expand into R&D, dual technical-commercial responsibilities, or other functions within the specialty chemical business.

Externally, TS&D Engineers are seen as industry experts in the oil & gas sector, building customer relationships and establishing technical credibility. The role requires staying current with industry advances and competitive innovations.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct consultation for 30-50+ operating GAS/SPEC amine accounts.
• Handle inquiry simulations and responses for new specialty amine applications, including start-up, return-to-operation, and ongoing plant service.
• Manage a specific functional area for the GAS/SPEC amine business, such as quality, compliance, or a technology/research focus based on interest and business need.
• Collaborate with GAS/SPEC commercial account managers for each customer account.
• Work closely with distributors for each managed account.
• Comply with safety procedures and regulations, both internally and at third-party sites, and address unsafe conditions constructively.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience preferred, including 1-2 years of plant/operations experience.
• Proficiency in chemical reactions, chemical unit operations (distillation, flash separation, compression, heat exchange), equipment sizing, and process simulation.
• Deep understanding of chemical process control, safety in design, emergency relief, and protective systems.
• Strength in process simulation (flow sheeting, fluid flow, and heat exchange) using tools like ASPEN, Hysis, Protreat, or Promax.
• Fluency in English; second language is desirable.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
