About the role

This position as Technical Service Dairy Application Scientist is an internal-facing role within the NOAM Dairy Technical Service team. The role supports remote Technical Service Scientists by executing lab and pilot plant projects they generate for their customers, as well as knowledge-gain projects to advance the team’s technical growth. The ideal candidate is a technical scientist with experience designing and executing science-based experiments, and a background in Dairy Science or sensory testing is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Remote Technical Account Managers to understand project objectives, design, and execute projects to meet these goals.
  • Execute projects to expand the Dairy team’s technical knowledge related to specific dairy product sub-categories or Tate & Lyle ingredients.
  • Conceptualize, design, and execute projects in a scientific and statistically sound manner in collaboration with team members.
  • Execute projects in the pilot plant using industry-recognized processing procedures and a wide range of standard equipment.
  • Learn to operate and run relevant pilot plant equipment.
  • Translate project data into meaningful results and conclusions, providing clear recommendations.
  • Communicate results concisely and deliver customer or internal technical presentations as needed.
  • Perform additional duties to support the NOAM Dairy Technical Service team.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or a BS degree with at least 2 years of experience, preferably in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Expertise in writing technical summaries, reports, and presentations.
  • Knowledge of dairy science, dairy product formulation, and dairy processing.
  • Ability to deliver results in ambiguous situations with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Experience navigating a matrixed environment and building strong relationships with internal peers, sales, commercial teams, and customers.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $57,000 - $85,000, determined by skillset, job scope, knowledge, prior experience, cost of living, market data, and budget availability.
