About the Role
The Technical Sales Representative serves as the primary liaison between Pratt Industries and assigned customers not associated with a local sales representative. This role focuses on maintaining strong customer relationships, identifying process improvements, and collaborating with internal teams to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site visits at mutually agreed-upon timeframes to assess customer needs and provide solutions.
- Act as the main point of contact, communicating customer concerns and issues to the Pratt facility.
- Investigate opportunities to improve processes, including:
- Enhancing material shipping methods.
- Redesigning materials to improve run-ability or reduce costs.
- Increasing customer or Pratt line efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) on new items and overall customer activity.
- Join local Sales Representatives to review customer production lines.
- Support Quality Assurance (QA) Manager in complaint resolution.
- Work closely with the production team and Project Manager.
- Lead Pratt projects impacting customers.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Licenses: Candidate must maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Experience: Minimum of five years of outside sales experience or related experience with college coursework.
- Travel: Frequent travel to customer locations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; ability to collect data and generate reports.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities; capable of presenting effectively to groups.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and calculate rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Reasoning Ability: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, talk, and hear regularly.
- Occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: College degree, preferably in graphics or packaging.
- Industry Experience: Experience in the corrugated box industry.
- Additional Skills: Knowledge of production processes, quality standards, design, and customer interaction.
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to moving equipment in the work area.
- Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, along with hot and cold temperatures depending upon the season.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
