Technical Sales Representative
About the role
Nalco Water, an Ecolab Company, is seeking a Technical Sales Representative to join its industry-leading sales team. This role involves generating and executing sales plans in existing customer bases and in assigned competitive accounts, aiming for profit increase goals. The candidate will build relationships with customers, understand their business needs, and implement system assurance programs. They will also engage in problem-solving, selling Nalco Water innovations, and supporting customers with technical issues.
Responsibilities
- Generate and execute sales plans in existing customer base and in assigned competitively-held accounts, to meet profit increase goals
- Work closely with current and prospective customers to understand business needs and recommend continuous improvement and innovation plans that will maintain and grow sales
- Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in current and prospective customers, including plant or facility executives
- Provide technical support to customers; identifying and resolving customer challenges, escalating as required
- Engage in problem solving by performing system analysis, interpreting data and providing written recommendations to ensure customer operations are performing at optimal levels
- Actively sell and support Nalco Water innovations and technology in assigned customers to promote long-term business relationships with Nalco Water
Requirements
Candidate must reside within a commutable distance from Greater Chicago Area (Chicago, IL). Territory covers about a 120-mile radius of the surrounding area. Targeted accounts are within the Power industries. 10-25% overnight travel required. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree and three years of technical sales or field sales support experience.

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (chemical, mechanical, industrial) or life sciences (biology, chemistry, etc.)
- Water treatment or specialty chemical industry experience
- Working knowledge of OR

- Physical Requirements: Drive a company vehicle as required to perform job duties (pre-employment and ongoing motor vehicle record checks will be performed to determine eligibility to drive a company vehicle)
