Responsibilities
- Employ techniques to define, plan, organize, schedule, budget, manage and close out R&D focused projects.
- Manage critical projects with highly technical content and customer involvement.
- Lead teams of engineers from several technical disciplines.
- Provide technical cognizance as needed.
- Lead writing of programmatic content for proposals.
- Work with customers to close follow-on efforts or options contracts.
- Manage subcontractors or coordinate with prime contractors.
- Manage project milestones and deliverables.
- Track performance and delivery of subcontracts.
- Assess and mitigate project risks and manage project issues.
- Analyze project finances.
- Maintain cost reports and forecasts.
- Consult with PMO and engineering teams to coordinate project resources and staff.
- Assess project performance and present status at internal and external program reviews.
- Setup Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) in an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or other scheduling and WBS software.
- Track performance and delivery of subcontracts within an IMS.
- Compose diagrams, swim lanes, and business process flow charts in Microsoft Visio.
- Work collaboratively with cross functional teams to resolve technical and procedural issues.
- Lead the preparation and submission of technical reports.
Qualifications
- B.S. in a technical field (i.e., engineering, systems engineering, math, or science).
- U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
- 5+ years’ experience actively conducting program/project management.
- 2+ years’ experience with US Government contracts, ideally DoD, with an understanding of full lifecycle contract development and procurement.
- Proven experience in relevant a technical area, including mechanical, electrical, software, systems integration.
- Proven experience managing projects with program/project management software (Microsoft Project, Smartsheet etc).
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Documented ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams.
Desired Experience
- Experience working with Special Access Programs (SAPs).
- Experience with NSF Mid-scale Research Infrastructure.
- Experience with Systems Engineering principles and techniques including project lifecycle, requirements management, and system traceability.
- Experience with Agile, Earned Value Management, or other project management methodologies is a plus.
- Working knowledge with Costpoint, Workday/Adaptive, or similar management information systems.
- Adept with Microsoft Office tools (Visio is a plus).
- Excel power user: Lookups, Tables & Charts, Pivot Tables, Index & Match, Multi-Cell Formulas, Named Ranges, Conditional Formatting, Data Validation (VBA and Macro authoring is a plus).
- Certification in Project Management or desire to obtain certification is preferred.
Pay and Benefits
The salary range is as follows: Ann Arbor, MI & Menlo Park, CA - $102,400-$135,650; Princeton, NJ, Boulder, CO & Arlington, VA - $92,160-$122,112. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles.
