About the role

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) manages and ensures the timely completion of discrete technical or operational projects. Responsibilities include establishing technical requirements, defining project deliverables, budgets, and schedules, and overseeing the project team from initiation to completion. Projects are a set of related activities associated with Line-Item Projects Project Controls program, requiring the ability to produce specific products or provide services to meet customer requirements. TPMs develop or maintain processes to meet programmatic needs and produce work products as defined by the hiring manager.

This role involves cost analysis, control, planning, and scheduling for projects or programs with significant non-routine requirements. The TPM identifies cost trends for management attention and ensures work is completed as scheduled. The customer may be an external body, such as a federal agency, or an internal organization within the Laboratory. Knowledge of LANL Project Controls procedures, policies, and processes, as well as DOE O 413.3B EVMS requirements, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support project scheduling using Primavera P6, including data quality checks, integration tasks, and schedule analysis
• Support project cost management using Cobra and EVMS processes
• Collaborate with stakeholders across technical and business domains to align solutions with project objectives

Requirements

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Advanced proficiency in Excel
• Demonstrated initiative and independence—able to take a concept from idea to delivered product without heavy direction
• Strong communication skills across both technical and business contexts
• Experience in project controls within DOE/NNSA
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous-improvement mindset
• Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances, US citizenship is required
