About the role

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Principal Project Manager (Level 3) or Senior Principal Project Manager (Level 4) to join our team in Promontory, UT. This role will oversee cost and schedule across diverse projects within Tooling, Facilities, and Maintenance Engineering, requiring a strong background in project management, engineering, and construction. The successful candidate will execute strategic plans within a portfolio of complex projects, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and managing project timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget forecasts for a portfolio of diverse projects.
  • Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, production, and procurement teams to ensure alignment of project objectives and timelines.
  • Identify project milestones, critical paths, and potential risks, and develop contingency plans to address them.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and communications to keep all parties informed of project progress, changes, and issues.
  • Oversee the installation process from start to finish, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective solutions are implemented throughout the project.
  • Prepare financial reports and forecasts and present them to senior management as needed.
  • Approve invoices, change orders, and other project-related financial documents.
  • Conduct post-project reviews with all parties to document lessons learned and provide continuous improvements for future projects.
  • Proactively identify potential project risks and issues and develop strategies to mitigate or resolve them.
  • Implement corrective actions as necessary to keep the project on track.
  • Execute large capital projects in a manufacturing environment and drive project teams to achieve milestones.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications for Level 3

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experience.
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • 3 years of experience in project management methodologies and tools, including Gantt charts, project management software systems, and risk management.

Basic Qualifications for Level 4

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 4 years of professional experience.
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • 5 years of experience in project management methodologies and tools, including Gantt charts, project management software systems, and risk management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP or other relevant project management certification.
  • Experience with large-scale equipment installations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for equipment installation in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with presentations to leadership and executives.
  • Facilities or construction project experience.

Schedule

This position’s standard work schedule is 4/10 or 9/80, allowing employees who work nine-hour days Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Pay

Primary Level (Level 3) Salary Range: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00

Secondary Level (Level 4) Salary Range: $113,000.00 - $138,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
