About the role

Meta Reality Labs is building software for all realities—Augmented or Virtual. Our team is looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) who will play a key role in defining and driving highly complex, cross-functional Device and SW releases across the stack (OS/FW/Apps/Cloud). This role will work closely with development teams and leaders across the organization to bring together multiple technologies, delivering trustworthy experiences into Meta products (Quest, Quest Pro, Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, etc.). Our teams work on technologies spanning OS, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and customer-facing software to create experiences millions of customers love.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage cross-functional programs, facilitating relationships across multiple teams to identify risks, manage dependencies, and optimize resources.
  • Drive visibility, accountability, and execution across software development areas for the organization.
  • Understand the technology stack and roadmap, technical challenges, and business needs, then develop plans to mitigate risks and deliver features that meet customer needs.
  • Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and product development processes in a fast-changing environment, drive impact through key initiatives, and garner adoption of those processes.
  • Establish expertise in an area, becoming the go-to escalation point for execution, leader for driving visibility, and orchestrator for managing integration across your program area.
  • Drive high-quality technical outcomes, coordinating and contributing to engineering deliverables including architectural diagrams, specifications, launch criteria, and test plans.
  • Provide hands-on program management during analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post-implementation phases.

Requirements

  • Experience delivering technical programs or products from inception to delivery.
  • Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.
  • Proven ability to translate high-level goals into tangible action plans, and vice versa, with expertise communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience operating autonomously across multi-disciplinary teams, demonstrating initiative and informed decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience leading execution across highly ambiguous, complex products and programs, with experience making technical and product tradeoffs balancing business needs and technical constraints.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews).
  • Experience shipping consumer wearable products with AI-powered features.
  • Experience managing or contributing to full software development lifecycle processes (planning, development, testing, release).
  • Experience with AI.
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies.
  • Firmware development experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements).
