About the Role

As a Software Development Engineer in Motorola’s Mobile Business Group, you'll play a pivotal role in leveraging cutting-edge technologies and AI to craft unique innovations across Motorola devices, including smartphones, wearables, and innovative form factors. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and create innovations that push the boundaries of what's possible in the mobile and wearable space, with a focus on AI wearable technology.

Responsibilities

  • Android Application and Framework development: Develop Android applications and native software across different subsystems of mobile devices, including requirements definition, planning, design, testing, debugging, and competitive analysis.
  • On-Device AI Integration: Implement on-device AI frameworks and libraries to enable real-time AI processing, ensuring efficient utilization of device resources.
  • Off-Device AI Infrastructure: Architect and maintain scalable infrastructure for off-device AI processing, leveraging cloud services and distributed computing techniques.
  • Performance Optimization: Optimize AI algorithms and workflows to achieve optimal performance on mobile devices while balancing computational resources and battery life.
  • Collaboration: Work with product managers, designers, and other engineers to ideate and implement AI-powered features that enhance user experiences.
  • Research and Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI technologies and contribute to research initiatives aimed at driving innovation in mobile AI solutions.
  • Requirements analysis, technical feasibility evaluation, development, delivery of features, and support throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Create innovations on Motorola products to enrich consumers' digital lives through software-hardware pairings.

Requirements

  • B.S/M.S in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Android software development.
  • Experience with Android application development and enhancement of Android framework components to improve user experience.
  • Strong coding knowledge in Kotlin, Java, and Android Studio.
  • Proficiency in Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Design Patterns, Data Structures, and Algorithms.
  • Strong problem analysis and debugging skills with a passion for innovation and impactful software solutions.
  • Experience in KPI definition, analysis, and improvement.
  • Proven track record in delivering consumer-focused software experiences.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience publishing Android Apps to the Google Play Store.
  • Working experience with Git/Jira.
  • Knowledge of web services and REST APIs.
  • Experience interfacing with Google Cloud Services or Amazon Web Services.
  • Knowledge of Windows-based application development.
  • Strong sense of system architecture as it relates to mobile apps.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and their application in software development.
  • Working experience integrating LLMs into applications.
  • Experience with technologies like Audio, Bluetooth, WiFi, Display, Camera, and Modem.

Pay

The base salary budgeted range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission.
