Technical Program Manager, Operations Network Engineering Edge
About the role
Lead the end-to-end delivery of edge network scaling programs that connect fulfillment centers, robotics sites, and last-mile delivery stations directly to the cloud. You'll own complex, cross-functional initiatives that transform how the WAN edge is designed, deployed, and scaled across thousands of Amazon Operations sites worldwide, with direct impact measured in tens of millions of dollars annually. This role combines tactical execution with strategic influence—you'll manage the full program lifecycle from architecture validation through fleet-wide deployment, negotiate resources and priorities across engineering teams, and make deliberate trade-offs between short-term delivery and long-term architectural goals.
About the team
We are the Edge Operations Network Engineering organization, powering Amazon's Operations and Grocery businesses through global network infrastructure that enables mission-critical reachability for fulfillment, robotics, and last-mile delivery. Our team partners across Edge Engineering, AWS networking, Finance, and operational deployment partners to build the infrastructure that keeps Amazon's operations running at scale. We're focused on transforming how edge networks are designed and deployed, and we're looking for someone who can help us establish predictable delivery paths and governance mechanisms that allow programs to scale without requiring heroic efforts. You'll work with Directors and senior stakeholders across engineering and Finance, serving the thousands of Amazon Operations sites that rely on our network infrastructure.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the full program lifecycle for Edge Network Scaling Engineering, from requirements definition and architecture validation through phased deployment and fleet-scale rollout, with accountability for milestones, risks, and measurable delivery outcomes
- Drive roadmap execution for native cloud network access at high-bandwidth sites, managing deployment from initial pilots through fleet-scale rollout, including prerequisites, sequencing, and risk assessment at each stage
- Negotiate resources and align priorities across Edge Engineering, AWS networking, Finance, and operational deployment partners, ensuring the right teams are engaged at the right time with clear ownership and obligations
- Build financial accountability frameworks that link architectural decisions to defensible cost-avoidance or unit-economics outcomes, track realization against plan, and surface variance before it becomes a surprise
- Establish predictable delivery mechanisms—deployment playbooks, validation gates, and governance structures—that create consistent program execution across multiple concurrent workstreams and communicate program status, risk posture, and trade-off decisions clearly to Directors and senior stakeholders
Basic qualifications
- 6+ years of technical product or program management experience
- Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps
- Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure, complex systems, systems engineering
- Experience owning the full lifecycle of large, complex cross-functional technology programs from inception through fleet-scale delivery
- Experience managing programs across multiple engineering teams, negotiating priorities and resources, and driving delivery against milestones
- Ability to communicate program status, risk, financial outcomes, and trade-off decisions clearly and concisely to Directors and senior stakeholders, verbally and in writing
- Deep enough understanding of WAN, cloud networking, or distributed infrastructure architectures to identify where technical complexity will create operational risk and drive simplification
- Track record of decomposing multi-year architectural programs into executable milestones with clear dependencies, ownership, and validation gates
- Experience contributing to OP1/OP2 planning narratives or equivalent annual investment planning processes
Preferred qualifications
- 8+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience delivering fleet-scale infrastructure transitions, taking a proven architecture from pilot to production across hundreds or thousands of sites
- Background in network architecture, cloud connectivity (AWS Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, or equivalent), or WAN design
- Experience building cost/benefit analyses for infrastructure investments, including total cost of ownership modeling and entitlement tracking against plan
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate resources and align engineering organizations toward shared architectural end states across teams that have historically operated independently
- Familiarity with the operational demands of large-scale logistics or fulfillment environments where network availability directly impacts business outcomes
- Experience qualifying and deploying multi-vendor hardware at fleet scale, including supply chain coordination and per-platform validation processes
- Experience writing Amazon-style 6-page narratives and presenting them to Director-level audiences
