Technical Program Manager III, Design Delivery
About the role
A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in technical program management, engineering delivery, or managing design-to-construction lifecycles for data centers or physical infrastructure.
- Experience managing multi-stakeholder design lifecycles, with a focus on working with developers, Architects, and Engineers (AEs).
- Experience managing project schedules, budgets, technical risk mitigation, and commercial agreements (including SOWs).
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline, Architecture, Construction Management, or Business Administration.
- Experience implementing automated data trackers, program reviews, and metrics-driven dashboards to optimize program execution and velocity.
- Strong proficiency in structured change management and Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies within large, complex organizations.
- Deep domain knowledge of data center power, cooling, structural systems, or multi-tenant (colocation) site designs.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate high ambiguity, influence executive decision-making, and manage a program portfolio with strategic, cross-organizational impact.
Responsibilities
- Define, lead, and own data center design delivery, translating ambiguous design requirements and goals into clear, phased project plans, while maintaining trackers, metrics, and risk registers to handle escalations.
- Build trusted relationships and drive alignment across senior internal stakeholders and external partners, managing the negotiation and execution of technical Scopes of Work (SOWs) and commercial agreements with strict budgets.
- Drive the technical due diligence to evaluate engineering scope, determine milestones, assess engineering resource needs, and ensure physical construction adheres to technical design standards.
- Anticipate change requirements, develop structured change management rollout plans (including impact analysis), and resolve misalignments.
- Apply a structured Continuous Improvement (CI) approach to establish standard review cadences, optimize resource stewardship, and scale best practices.
