Technical Program Manager, Energy & Charging Software
The Tesla Energy & Charging Software team develops and operates the software for Tesla’s products in power generation, energy storage, vehicle charging, and grid services. This includes the integrated residential product experience (Powerwall, Solar Roof, Wall Connector, Storm Watch), commercial and industrial products (Megapack, Powerhub), vehicle charging (Supercharger, Wall Connector), and grid services (Virtual Power Plants, Autobidder, energy-market participation).
About the role
The Technical Program Manager will report to the Director of the software organization and work closely with a team of passionate software engineers as well as partner product development and engineering teams. The Program Manager will be an integral part of the engineering team and responsible for driving program execution across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Drive software planning and programs across weeks, quarters and years
- Regularly interface with the product leaders and ensure the software organization is aligned to execute on the most important initiatives while balancing competing priorities
- Consolidate inputs from across teams into executive reviews highlighting risks and opportunities, successes and areas for improvement
- Maximize engineering team velocity by limiting work in progress and reducing team context switching
- Provide project leadership, foster collaboration, bring together teams to solve critical problems, and drive initiatives to completion
- Enable high velocity distributed decision making by driving alignment of strategic goals
- Help the team find the process that helps them the most for structured work and communication
Requirements
- Proven success delivering great products in a role of either a product or program manager or engineering leader
- Excellent written and spoken communication
- A passion for solving problems at the nexus of products, engineering, humans and organizations
- A strong sense of urgency in achieving Tesla's mission through high velocity engineering
- The ability to synthesize complex information across organizations to drive decision making with engineers and executives
- Able to rapidly understand high level software & engineering concepts as it applies to program execution
- Able to practice principled, strategic problem solving

Pay
The expected compensation range for this position is $112,000 - $217,200 annually, with details of participation in benefits provided upon hire. The total compensation package may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
