About the Role
This is a 1-year onsite position in San Jose, CA, focused on managing the development cycles of custom applications across multiple squads.
Responsibilities
- Manage the throughput of custom application development cycles, ensuring engineers balance feature development, technical debt reduction, and bug fixes to optimize sprint outcomes.
- Identify and track architectural bottlenecks, resource constraints, and complex cross-team dependencies; escalate hard blockers to leadership or core stakeholders to minimize pipeline idle time.
- Manage communications with dependent internal and external teams impacted by application releases, enforcing standard release notices, migration paths, and deployment timelines.
- Proactively plan sprint allocations around production freezes (e.g., holiday chills) and team capacities to ensure predictable deployment velocity.
- Provide regular reports on burn-down rates, milestone tracking, release health metrics, and automated tool success rates.
Skills
Mandatory technical operational skills with target proficiency (1-5 scale):
- Pipeline/Issue Tracking: High-level mastery of project tracking tools like Buganizer, TaskFlow, or Jira. (Proficiency: 5)
- SDLC & Dependency Concepts: Understanding application deployment graphs, upstream/downstream dependencies, and blast radius management. (Proficiency: 4)
- Automated Workflows: Using CI/CD tooling and automation scripts to track build statuses and file batch issues. (Proficiency: 4)
- Risk Management: Tracking SLOs, release milestones, and compliance with deployment freezes. (Proficiency: 5)
