Technical Program Manager

About the role

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It involves Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the design, development, testing, and deployment of features into production across multiple technical teams.
• Create and track project milestones, risks, and dependencies, and own and prioritize all technical requirements associated with delivery.
• Dive deep into the design details of systems in your area, especially those related to customer interfaces, and understand system dependencies during early project phases.
• Identify and estimate work required to change existing systems or services to implement new capabilities, and work with the SDM for each system.
• Develop and implement the implementation plan across teams, and report on progress against technical milestones to stakeholders.
• Understand significant business problems, automation limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions, and reasons behind architectural choices.
• Demonstrate good judgment in escalating issues and proactively identify and mitigate risks.
• Solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks before they become roadblocks.
• Ensure programs stay aligned with organizational goals, and stakeholder needs are aligned while driving mindful discussions that lead to crisp decisions.
• Partner with customers, internal/external teams, and/or engineering teams to determine what projects move forward and in what sequence.
• Create effective narratives, program updates, and present them effectively to stakeholders and management team.
• Ensure programs stay aligned with organizational goals, and stakeholder needs are aligned while driving mindful discussions that lead to crisp decisions.
• Oversee the gap between teams, processes, and system architectures, and help teams/your organization reduce exposure to classic failure modes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent.
• 5+ years of technical product or program management experience working directly with software engineering teams.
• 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience.

Qualifications

• Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes, and coordinating release schedules.
• Experience with Confluence, JIRA.
• Experience with data analysis to capture, process, and organize data to uncover actionable insights.

Skills

• Data-oriented, regularly reviews metrics, and proactively seeks out new and improved data/mechanisms for visibility.
• Good judgment in escalating issues and proactively identifies and mitigates risks.
• Ability to solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks (before they become roadblocks).
