About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technical Production Manager / Technical Draftsperson to bridge the gap between abstract creative concepts and reality-based physical construction. In this role, you will be the linchpin between our 3D design/render artists and production, translating ideas into actionable reality that can be shared with clients, fabrication shops, and onsite install teams. You will take high-concept, complex spatial designs—often originated as organic or intricate geometry in Cinema 4D—and translate them into precise, hyper-accurate construction and fabrication drawings using Rhino, Vectorworks, and AutoCAD. Your drawings will dictate exactly how our sets, pop-ups, runway productions, and permanent installations are built in the real world.

Responsibilities

  • Translate & Ground Concepts: Take conceptual 3D assets and complex models from Cinema 4D and translate them into reality-based, structurally viable drafting formats.
  • Technical Drafting: Generate comprehensive, detailed, and accurate technical drawing sets (floor plans, elevations, sections, construction details, and assembly diagrams) using Rhino, Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD.
  • Fabrication Integration: Collaborate closely with our in-house production team and external fabrication shops to ensure drawings account for material yields, structural integrity, hardware, and transportability.
  • Problem Solving: Anticipate engineering and build challenges during the drafting phase. Apply a "yes, and" approach to preserve the creative vision while adhering to real-world budgets, timelines, and safety constraints.
  • Site and Venue Compliance: Integrate site survey data and venue constraints into technical drawings, ensuring all elements comply with relevant building codes and safety regulations.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work fluidly within our integrated pipeline, communicating clearly with 3D designers, creative directors, technical directors, and project managers, with a strong emphasis on clear file interoperability.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a technical draftsperson, technical designer, or draftsperson specifically within the experiential events, scenic fabrication, set design, or interior/architecture industries.
  • Advanced proficiency in Rhino, Vectorworks (2D/3D), and AutoCAD with a proven track record of extracting, flattening, and translating complex 3D geometry into precise production drawings.
  • A deep understanding of construction methodologies, scenic fabrication materials (wood, metal, acrylics, CNC routing, 3D printing), and finishing techniques.
  • An eagle eye for detail, scale, line weights, and organizing complex drawing sets cleanly.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-energy, fast-moving agency environment, managing tight deadlines across multiple tentpole projects simultaneously.
  • A portfolio or work samples demonstrating clean technical drawing sets, construction detailing, and examples of translated 3D concepts into final fabricated realities.
