About the Opportunity

The Senior Software Engineer, Data Engineering is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable and robust data architectures, models, and pipelines. This role ensures data integrity, performance, and accessibility to support analytics, reporting, and machine learning efforts, contributing significantly to the organization's data-driven healthcare initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions
  • Develop and maintain logical and physical data models
  • Build and optimize ETL processes and data pipelines
  • Integrate diverse data sources into a unified platform
  • Monitor and improve performance of data systems
  • Implement data quality checks and governance frameworks
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders
  • Document data architectures, models, and pipelines
  • Train and mentor team members on data engineering best practices
  • Provide technical leadership and influence policy and procedures
  • Manage production environments to meet defined SLAs

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building and maintaining scalable data pipelines
  • 3+ years as a data engineer working with tools like Airflow or Python-based pipelines
  • Experience with integration patterns and backend software development
  • Skilled in optimizing ETL processes and SQL queries
  • Knowledge of data modeling for OLTP and OLAP applications
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
  • Familiarity with workflow management tools and cloud data warehouses (Airflow, Redshift preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience handling sensitive data (PHI/PII) and security practices
  • Understanding of data governance principles
  • Proficiency in SQL and relational databases
  • Experience with analytical SQL and MPP databases (Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake)
  • Programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala
  • Knowledge of data modeling techniques and tools
  • Software engineering best practices and automated testing concepts
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (Lambda, Iceberg, Delta Lake, Spark, Kafka)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Self-directed with ability to lead projects independently
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
