About the role

As a Technical Product Manager, Robotics at Johnson & Johnson, you will be responsible for defining and delivering the technical vision for products in the surgical robotics space. You will collaborate closely with R&D leaders, engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure the development of innovative technical product roadmaps aligned with business goals and technological feasibility.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product roadmap and platform backlog, including feature intake, prioritization, grooming, and readiness, ensuring alignment with business goals, customer needs, technical strategy, and delivery capacity.

  • Translate roadmap priorities into executable plans by defining quarterly objectives, developing coordinated delivery plans, and maintaining backlogs that connect long-range strategy to day-to-day execution.

  • Drive end-to-end execution of cross-functional R&D initiatives by tracking work against commitments, managing dependencies and risks, and ensuring predictable delivery across the product development lifecycle—from concept through design transfer and release.

  • Lead planning, tracking, and execution cadence using Agile and program management practices (e.g., sprint planning, reviews, dependency management), leveraging these mechanisms to implement the roadmap rather than serving as a dedicated Scrum Master or standalone Program Manager.

  • Partner closely with engineering, product management, clinical, and functional leaders to align scope, priorities, and timelines, proactively surface tradeoffs, and resolve execution blockers.

  • Use data and metrics to inform decisions and course-correct, including tracking delivery health, milestone progress, and key performance indicators related to scope, schedule, quality, and risk.

  • Communicate clearly and proactively with leadership and partners, providing regular updates on roadmap progress, execution status, risks, and mitigation plans to support timely, informed decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience in engineering, or scientific field.

  • Required Experience and Skills: Minimum 8+ years of professional work experience in product development, minimum 4 years in engineer, program or product management, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with teams, experience in 'Organizational Change' and 'Conflict Resolution', software and/or hardware development experience, ability to motivate and influence others without direct authority, passion for experimentation, proactive approach to problem-solving, strong critical thinking, eagerness to learn.

  • Preferred Experience: Launching a new product, Project Management Certification (e.g., FPX, PMP), Scrum Master Certification (e.g., CSM, PSM I, PMI-ACP), experience in the regulated industry such as healthcare, aerospace, pharmaceutical, automotive, experience with Jira, Smartsheet, Airtable, other database and work planning tools, people management experience.
