About the role
Beep is seeking a Technical Product Manager to bridge the gap between Product and Engineering teams. Key responsibilities include backlog management, sprint execution, and release coordination.
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the product backlog in Jira, managing, refining, and prioritizing epics, features, and tasks in alignment with the product roadmap
- Manage the product roadmap and epic structure, ensuring epics are well-defined, sequenced, and traceable to business objectives
- Closely partner with Engineering to map user stories to the correct epics and roadmap initiatives, maintaining alignment between product intent and development execution
- Facilitate backlog grooming sessions to keep the pipeline of work healthy and sprint-ready
- Drive sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives; track sprint velocity, burndown, and team capacity to keep delivery predictable and sustainable
- Remove blockers and escalate issues early to keep development on track; hold the team accountable to Scrum ceremonies and Agile best practices
- Coordinate and manage the release process from development through staging to production; maintain release notes, changelogs, and version documentation
- Communicate release timelines, scope, and risks to stakeholders across the organization; create and maintain user-facing How-To guides and feature documentation to support adoption of new functionality
- Serve as the primary bridge between Product and Engineering, ensuring both sides have shared context and aligned expectations; translate technical constraints and trade-offs into language Product and business stakeholders can act on
- Proactively identify dependencies, risks, and scope changes; communicate these proactively to make informed decisions early
- Partner with QA, DevOps, and other technical teams to ensure smooth end-to-end delivery
Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in a Product Manager, Product Owner, Scrum Master, or similar role within a software development environment
- Strong working proficiency in Jira—comfortable configuring boards, workflows, and dashboards, not just creating tickets
- Solid understanding of Agile methodology and Scrum framework; Scrum certification (CSM, PSM, or equivalent) required
- Technical fluency—you don’t need to write code, but you need to understand software development lifecycles, APIs, system architecture, and how engineering teams work
- Demonstrated ability to manage a product roadmap and epic hierarchy, with experience aligning engineering work to higher-level product goals
- Strong communication and facilitation skills; comfortable running ceremonies and navigating competing priorities between teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field
Qualifications
- Experience in the transportation, mobility, or autonomous vehicle industry is a plus
- Familiarity with Confluence, Bitbucket, GitHub, or similar development and documentation tools is a plus
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows is a plus
- Experience managing releases in a production environment with multiple deployment targets is a plus
- Background in a fast-paced startup or high-growth company is a plus
- Experience using AI tools in day-to-day work, such as Claude or Claude Code, to improve productivity, streamline documentation, or assist with analysis is a plus
Skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities
- Experience with agile methodologies and scrum framework
- Technical understanding of software development lifecycles, APIs, system architecture, and engineering processes
