Job Title: Technical Product Manager – Manufacturing Industrialization Job Description The Technical Product Manager – Manufacturing Industrialization owns the technical roadmap for production scale-up, process development, and manufacturing automation. This role defines the engineering requirements, tooling, and equipment specifications needed to industrialize new manufacturing capabilities, ensuring that production lines meet throughput, capacity, quality, and cost targets. The position serves as the technical bridge between engineering, production, quality, and supply chain, driving design-for-manufacturing excellence and enabling reliable, scalable manufacturing operations. Responsibilities Own the technical roadmap for production scale-up, process development, and manufacturing automation to industrialize new manufacturing capabilities.Translate production throughput and capacity targets into detailed facility layouts, production line concepts, tooling strategies, and workstation specifications.Define composite fabrication tooling and process parameters, including layup tool sets, takt-time targets, and cure and bond cycles, to meet validated production rate commitments.Specify, commission, and stand up automated production cells such as robotic trimming and finishing cells, CNC machining centers, and automated inspection systems including CMMs.Partner with equipment vendors and integrators to define requirements, oversee integration, and validate performance of automation and manufacturing equipment.Lead technical planning for propulsion and subsystem integration across multiple engine and powertrain configurations, coordinating with domestic suppliers on qualification and capacity.Develop and validate rate-increase and surge-capacity plans, defining the technical exercises, data collection, and analysis needed to demonstrate production readiness.Serve as the technical lead interfacing with engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve design-for-manufacturing issues that affect cost, schedule, or producibility.Define technical training and certification requirements for new production processes and equipment to ensure safe, consistent, and capable operations.Support new product development by providing manufacturing input on product design, materials, processes, and tooling throughout the product lifecycle.Create, review, and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and related engineering documentation to support accurate configuration control and production planning.Apply structured project management practices to plan, prioritize, and deliver manufacturing industrialization projects on time and within scope.Communicate technical plans, risks, and trade-offs clearly to internal leadership, government customers, and vendors or suppliers.Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, quality, and throughput using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.Navigate and constructively manage conflict and tension while driving changes to established processes within a tenured production team. Essential Skills 10+ years of experience in facility, factory, or manufacturing layout design and implementation in environments such as appliances, part production, production assembly, or automotive.Proven experience in new product development, product management, and project management within a manufacturing or industrialization context.Strong bakground in process development, engineering, and product development for production environments.Hands-on experience with facility layout, factory layout, and workstation design to support efficient manufacturing flows.Demonstrated expertise in automation design, automation systems, and automation implementation for production operations.Strong technical fluency across manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment, with the ability to write and evaluate detailed technical specifications.Proven ability to translate production capacity and rate requirements into concrete engineering, tooling, and facility plans.Manufacturing experience with working knowledge of materials and process considerations affecting production, such as composites, metallics, finishing, or assembly processes.Ability to read and work from engineering drawings, process specifications, and equipment technical data.Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical details to both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders, including internal leadership, government customers, and vendors or suppliers.Experience managing and executing automation projects, including design, process definition, and implementation.Ability to work effectively in situations involving conflict or tension and to lead change within established, tenured teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, or materials engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent experience will be considered.Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification, or equivalent experience in structured continuous improvement.5+ years of experience in technical product management, manufacturing engineering, or industrialization roles in aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing environments.Hands-on experience with composite fabrication processes, including tooling design and takt-time or cycle-time analysis.Experience specifying or integrating robotic automation, CNC equipment, and automated metrology or inspection systems such as CMMs.Familiarity with propulsion or powertrain integration, including internal combustion, electric, or turbine systems, in a production environment.Experience developing rate-increase, surge capacity, or production validation test plans to support production ramp-up.Familiarity with UAS or UAV production environments and their specific manufacturing and integration challenges.Experience with PLM and ERP systems and with engineering documentation and configuration control practices.Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies and their application in manufacturing operations. Work Environment This position is based onsite in Madison, Alabama, within a production-focused environment that supports advanced manufacturing and industrialization activities. The role operates in close proximity to manufacturing lines, automation cells, and engineering teams, requiring regular interaction with production equipment such as robotic cells, CNC machining centers, composite fabrication tooling, and automated inspection systems. The work setting emphasizes hands-on collaboration with engineering, production, quality, and supply chain, with a strong focus on safety, process discipline, and continuous improvement. The environment supports structured project work, cross-functional meetings, and vendor collaboration, providing exposure to cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and a culture that values technical excellence, clear communication, and practical problem solving. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Madison, AL. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $180000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Work Week Monday through Friday; 8 hours per day; 40 hours per week. Different hours may be assigned to specific individuals when circumstances warrant. Holidays 10 holidays: New Year's Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and 3 additional Floating Holidays (1 awarded after 3 months employment, and 2 awarded after 6 months). Personal Time Off 3 weeks per year accrued at 10 hours per month: 1 to 5 years: 3 weeks 5 to 10 years: 4 weeks 10+ years: 5 weeks Paid time off (PTO) is available to use as vacation or sick leave. PTO may be accrued and carried over at the end of the year up to240 total accumulative hours after 1 year. Patriotic Service Pay The Company will compensate employees for jury duty so that there will be no loss of pay for a maximum of 40 hours. Jury duty for which compensation is provided is to be served during normal working hours. Up to 120 hours per fiscal year may be charged to administrative leave for absence due to military or National Guard obligations. The Company will pay the employee the difference between their regular base rate of pay and any pay received for military duty. Compensation Payment of wages is made by direct deposit every other Friday. Performance reviews are prepared at yearly anniversaries. Merit pay increases may be given at any time as circumstances warrant. Tuition Assistance Full-time employees may be reimbursed for expenses of pre-approved job-related coursework completed at an accredited college or university, up to a limit of $1,000 per calendar year for undergraduate studies and $2,000 per calendar year for graduate studies. A grade of A or B is required to qualify for reimbursement. An employee who voluntarily terminates employment within 1 year of undergraduate level course completion or within 2 years of graduate level course completion must refund to the Company the cost of any reimbursement received. The Company pays 100% of the premium for employees and 90% of the premium for family coverage. Coverage begins on date of hire.
