About This Role
Kidde Global Solutions has an opportunity for a Technical Product Management Specialist to support and contribute to product management for the commercial fire business unit. In this role, you will be responsible for the planning and execution of new product development, product enhancements, general product support, and product training for commercial fire systems. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and advocate for solutions that align with our mission of saving lives and building a safer future.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain product strategy and roadmaps for assigned categories/products, including OEM products.
- Gain deep understanding of the competitive landscape, customer needs, product positioning, feature sets, and market trends to maintain a leading edge.
- Establish strong relationships with Sales Teams and Channel Representatives to validate product direction.
- Deliver on New Product Developments (NPDs) by creating business opportunity proposals and product requirement documents, and building consensus across Engineering, Sales, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Pre/Post-Sales Support, Marketing, Legal, and other functions.
- Drive product lifecycle management activities, including SKU reduction, excess and obsolete inventory reduction, and product end-of-life planning.
- Implement phase-out/sell-off plans for slow-moving and low-margin products.
- Lead competitive teardowns to understand product differentiation and define value propositions.
- Develop a Sales “Playbook” outlining value propositions, key messages, competitor differentiation, data sheets, and marketing collateral.
- Document pricing and positioning strategies for solutions.
- Demonstrate financial acumen by understanding cost/schedule, incremental revenue, gross revenue, and gross margin drivers.
- Proactively research and address revenue gaps through discussions with Channel Representatives and Sales Teams, communicating action plans to the Executive Team.
- Organize and maintain tactical day-to-day activities, including reporting, SKU management, packaging, marketing content, and product specifications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3+ years of technical product management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Technical Project Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
- Experience in the commercial fire and security industry or other technical building systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills to influence and communicate across global functional teams in a matrix environment.
- Self-starter motivated to expand skills and grow experience.
- Effective organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
Pay
Base salary range: $102,931 to $121,095 per year. Individuals may be eligible for an annual performance bonus based on both individual and company performance.
