Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures key performance indicators are being achieved, such as work order completion, efficient completion time, and customer satisfaction.
  • Procures new technology for the CCG, including laptops, desktops, cell phones, and other mobile devices.
  • Designs leadership goals for the department and provides IT leadership with strategic initiatives to achieve each year.
  • Carrries out managerial and supervisory responsibility, including hiring and training; plans, assigns, and directs work to employees; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Maintains leave time and hours worked for Technical Operations Division.
  • Monitors the progress of assigned requests.
  • Receives, reviews, and procures requests for new technology.
  • Supervises the status of the mobile phone system, including ordering new devices, user support, and immediate payment of the mobile phone bill.
  • Oversees the CCG’s technology asset management system and prepares technology refresh cycles using data from it.
  • Determines, plans, and presents recommendations for the future of the Technical Operations Division and the IT department to IT leadership.
  • Oversees the accounts payable and payroll printing processes.
  • Serves as a member of the IT Action Response Team.
  • Serves as a liaison between the department and customers.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of the software and hardware used by the Columbus Consolidated Government.

Minimum Educational And Training Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field is required.
  • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the department to direct and coordinate work within the department is usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience.

Physical Requirements

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table.
  • The employee must occasionally lift light objects.
  • Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
    • Feeling – perceiving attributes of objects by touch with skin, fingertips.
    • Grasping – applying pressure to object with fingers, palm.
    • Handling – picking, holding, or working with whole hand.
    • Hearing 1 – perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, receive information.
    • Hearing 2 – receive detailed information, make discrimination in sound.
    • Handwriting – writing legibly.
    • Manual Dexterity – picking, pinching, typing, working with fingers rather than hand.
    • Mental Acuity – ability to make rational decisions through sound logic, deductive reasoning.
    • Reaching – extending hands or arms in any direction.
    • Repetitive Motion – substantial movements of wrists, hands, fingers.
    • Speaking – expressing ideas with spoken word, convey detailed, important instructions accurately, concisely.
    • Talking 1- expressing ideas by spoken word.
    • Visual Acuity 1 - prepare, analyze data, transcribing, computer terminal, extensive reading.
    • Visual Acuity 2 - color, depth perception, field of vision.
    • Visual Acuity 3 - determine accuracy, neatness, observe facilities/structures.
