Technical Manufacturing Manager
About the Role
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will manage technical operations, lead a team of engineers and technical experts, and ensure materials, processes, and equipment exceed the stringent requirements of the healthcare packaging industry. You will bring analytical rigor, materials expertise, and a passion for solving complex problems in a highly regulated, fast-paced environment. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, sales, marketing, and customer engineering teams — driving technical excellence from concept to commercialization.
What You'll Do
- Lead product and equipment validations, using enhanced data analysis to ensure performance, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Act as the primary technical liaison for customer engineering teams, offering technical documentation, on-site support, and process insights.
- Own the qualification and implementation of alternate raw materials, driving innovation and cost-effectiveness.
- Drive continuous improvement of formulations and production procedures for better performance and repeatability.
- Stay ahead of industry trends in medical packaging — including sustainability, materials innovation, and evolving regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing on equipment commissioning, process optimization, and technology integration.
- Serve as a key member of plant leadership teams to overcome technical challenges and meet operational goals.
- Lead the pre-press and graphics function, ensuring high-quality specifications and visual accuracy.
- Manage, mentor, and empower a team of technical professionals - fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and accountability.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field required (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or similar preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in technical roles supporting manufacturing, preferably in regulated industries (medical, pharma, or food).
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing technical or engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of raw materials, validation protocols, and process optimization.
- Ability to interpret and apply regulatory and customer-specific requirements.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and legibly complete time cards and work orders.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and read blueprints and technical drawings, such as machine, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups situations to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $93,000 to $128,000 annually. Pay is based on experience.
