Technical Leader

About the role

At RK&K, we are hiring a Project Manager in Transportation to support existing clients and develop new clients in the Tennessee region. You will lead a variety of dynamic transportation pursuits and projects, focusing on areas of RK&K’s current and new service areas.

Responsibilities

• Lead transportation planning and/or design projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment
• Mentor junior engineering and technician staff on transportation planning and/or design tasks
• Develop and analyze alternative solutions for transportation projects
• Oversee talented and professional staff on transportation projects
• Lead highway planning and/or design projects
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, government agencies, and project staff
• Work with clients and consultants to facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations, and approvals of plans
• Direct project staff and sub-consultants
• Serve as liaison between client and firm
• Participate in business development and marketing to secure future clients and workload

Requirements

• BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
• 10+ years of experience in civil engineering design with a focus in transportation/highway engineering
• Tennessee Professional Engineering Registration (PE) or ability to obtain within six (6) months
• Expertise in Microstation / Geopak / InRoads/ Open Roads and/or AutoCAD / Civil 3D
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience with DOT, state and local government agencies

Qualifications

• Clear understanding of AASHTO and local state/municipal design criteria
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment

• Expertise in highway design standards and other relevant guidelines
• Strong project management and leadership skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
