About the role

CTAC is seeking a Technical Lead to support one of our government contracts by ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems. The role functions as a DevOps Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), treating operations issues as software issues with a focus on automation. You will lead a shared service infrastructure team supporting application teams across on-premises, cloud, and platform-as-a-service environments. Responsibilities include providing technical direction, hands-on support, and ensuring coordinated standardized approaches and knowledge sharing within the team.

This position is hybrid, requiring in-person work up to three days a week in Northern Virginia, with potential travel to client sites in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of the shared service infrastructure team.
  • Support operations and maintenance of applications running on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Develop automated tooling and scripts to reduce manual effort in application support.
  • Contribute to project software to improve processes, reduce technical debt, and enhance visibility and monitoring.
  • Assist in debugging applications, databases, and middleware using AI agents and code tooling.
  • Configure monitoring, alerting, and notification tooling for cloud and on-premises applications.
  • Develop cloud-first applications, infrastructure as code, and tooling to improve business processes and reduce operations and maintenance efforts.
  • Support and maintain Identity Management Systems (Okta-based) at a federal client.
  • Manage configuration and administration of application monitoring, logging, and CI/CD systems.
  • Support compliance and maintenance of applications across various technologies, with a focus on AWS cloud-hosted applications or migrations to AWS.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in development and operations work, preferably supporting government systems.
  • Strong experience in at least one programming language, with preference for comfort across scripting, interpreted, and compiled languages.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with tools for vulnerability scanning, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Ability to document technical processes and architectures clearly.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Experience managing Linux and Windows servers in a hybrid environment.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using AI tools to shorten development cycles and reference issues and solutions.
  • AWS Cloud Certifications or similar.
  • Experience with database management systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or Sybase.

Schedule

Hybrid in-person and remote work, with in-person effort expected up to three days a week in Northern Virginia.
